O365 Updates Failed with Error Code 0x80200061(-2145386399)

Question

Hi All,

Actually I have one doubt I have deployed both Office 365 patches and Windows OS patches on monthly basis. After deploying this month and encountered some errors like both OS and O365 patches are failed and I can in console as ” Failed to Install Updates with error code 0x80200061(-2145386399) “
when I retry from Software Centre and it will start downloading and it will stuck 50% and then it will fail with different error codes.
I have checked WUAhandler.log it says scan completed successfully and no errors are there. In updated employment.log it is saying actionable updates or 2 still unable to download and patch.
In Update store log says state is missing updates no errors.

All the possible ways like restarting the SMS host agent , BITS, Windows Update and renaming the software distribution folder and but still facing same issue.

Checked all the boundaries configured properly and SCCM client are supported version.

can someone please check and let me know if anyone faced same kind of issues.

Need to Resolve these issues and facing almost 250+ devices in my environment.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi Anoop,

Thank you so much for your quick response.

Before Doing troubleshooting below are the findings.

    1. Checked below Services are running – SMS Host Agent, BITS
    Windows Update service is stopped
    2. Updatedeployment.log checked below are the findings:
GetUpdateInfo – failed to get targeted update, error = 0x87d00215
    3. Wuahandler.log
Scan is completed successfully without errors
    4. Updatestore.log
Successfully done with set status operation.

    During Troubleshooting:

Retried from Software center below are the findings:
Updatedeployment.log – Its started downloading but it got stuck at 50% after some time it got failed with error code as below:
    Progress: Status = ciStateDownloading, PercentComplete = 0, DownloadSize = 100, Result = 0x0
    Progress: Status = ciStateDownloading, PercentComplete = 50, DownloadSize = 100, Result = 0x0

It stuck at the same phase more than 1 hour not proceeding further.

    Windows update log –
    ComApi *FAILED* [80246007] ISusInternal:: IsCommitRequired
Agent WU client calls back to download call {*********************} with code Call Aborted and error 0x8024000b
    ComApi Download call complete (succeeded = 0, succeeded with errors = 0, failed = 0, cancelled = 1, unaccounted = 0)
ComApi ClientId = Windows Defender: Exit code = 0x00000000; Call error code = 0x8024000B

    Updatestore.log – Status=Missing, Title=Microsoft 365 Apps Update – Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel Quality Update for x64 based Edition Version 2108 (Build 14326.20910)

Locationservices.log- Able to find the WSUS path and it is in proper boundry group

Excemgr.log – Auto install is set to false do nothing.

Reboot coordinate.log – Getting Pending reboot information – After multiple restarts also getting same messages at the end of the log.

CCMSDKprovider.log – Raising pending event:instance of CCM_ServiceHost_CertRetrieval_Status and not getting any errors messages.

Note: We have renamed the software distribution folder also but no luck.

Kindly let me know is there any other things need to check for the resolution.

    Thank you .

      Hi Anoop,

Kindly check the above observations and help me how to fix this issue and what might be the root cause.

      Thank you

      • Agent WU client calls back to download call {*********************} with code Call Aborted and error 0x8024000b This means Operation was cancelled.

I think you need to have troubleshooting here. Because abort operation is not the normal scenario.

Have you checked Updatedeployment.log (when you try to initiate from the software center?) and have you tried to enable WindowsUpdates log using PowerShell (Get-WindowsUpdateLog).

Other options to fix O365 Updates Failed with Error Code 0x80200061(-2145386399). You are getting this error for all the devices (Windows 11 and Windows 10) or are there any successful deployments?
