OSD Task Sequence Failed – 0x80070BC2

Question

Hi,

I’m looking for some guidance/support regarding an SCCM issue I have been having for the past week.

Imaging is completing via the TS but no apps are installed. Only error in the smsts log is 0x80070BC2 followed by a reboot and activating the finish page. I have swapped out the DP and tested in a different UK location but the same issue, once the user logs on after imaging those apps, install fine. I have created a new TS and tested in UK but it still fails to installs the apps. The point where it stops is a few steps after installing the config client.

If the same TS is ran in another country it works fine. As the UK TS works fine in another location I thought it wouldnt be the actual TS itself and something local instead.

We have ran packet capture whilst imaging and cannot see any packet drops during imaging that could be causing the issue.

Sccm is 2010, also tried to run another TS in UK which does the same but that TS works fine in another country.

Any help/suggestions are welcome.

Thank you

  1. The Windows error/warning/information 0x80070bc2 = Installation successful, reboot required.

Why is this only happening with UK is really a mystery …

You need to identify which application is triggering the restart. Check smsts.log to confirm this.

And try to remove that app from task sequence and test.

I don’t see any other option to resolve this issue

Thank you for taking your time to provide assistance with this.

I have had a look at the smsts log and I can see its actually doing the(Setup Windows and Configuration Manager step to install the client . I already have a reboot set after this step.

If I take this step out then it wont install the apps :-(.

Snippet of the smsts log below, if there are any further suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated. I have checked the working TS for other locations and they use the same package to install the client as UK:
