SCCM 2006 – While deploying MS365 Apps Update Version 2107 (Build 14228.20250) users seeing user notifications even after disabling it via GPO & Baseline

Question

SCCM 2006 – While deploying MS365 Apps Update Version 2107 (Build 14228.20250) users seeing user notifications even after disabling it via GPO & SCCM Baseline.

Manually verified on few users registry value and hideupdatenotifications was set to 1.

Registry Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Registry Path softwarepoliciesmicrosoftoffice16.0commonofficeupdate
Value Name hideupdatenotifications
Value Type REG_DWORD
Enabled Value 1

Also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOfficeClickToRunConfiguration
OfficeMgmtCOM is set to True.

Please advice what else can be checked and any logs etc etc. This is a major issue for us. We do not want users to see the notification popup with 29 mins count down.

Pls help.

I think I found why. It is because of time gap between Available & installation deadline deployment . Pls refer the below MS article’s

    1) https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-365-blog/understanding-office-365-proplus-updates-for-it-pros-cdn-vs-sccm/ba-p/795728

    2) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/end-user-update-notifications-microsoft-365-apps

    3) https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/10e0d4f7-3c11-4473-8273-da9dec22bda5/office-365-proplus-sccm-update-deployment-quotoffice-will-be-updated-in-30-minutesquot?forum=Office2016ITPro

If you are managing the office 365 updates deployment using SCCM then best workaround is

    1) Deploy with both Available & installation deadline with ASAP.
    2) Under User experience -> user notifications select “Hide in software center and all notifications”
    both should work.

    Many Thanks,
