Server Patching with SCCM

Question

Hello Team, i have request to patch few servers which are not bee patched from 2 years. These devices are getting managed by SCCM but due to exmeptions we have not included them for patching. Now we want to patch these server. Question is did servers take longer time to get updates. Also we have ADR is in place so just checking about Maintenance Window to opt for these servers. Servers you need to create new one if the existing one doesn’t include server filters

they are going to take a while to patch if they havent patched in 2 year and will most likely have multiple reboots. so its possible they might not finish patching during the maintenance window and could take a multiple windows to complete depending on the length of the maintenance window.

  1. If the question is whether server takes long time to complete or finish the update.

Yes of course and it depends on many factors… server specs … resource available of the server.. is there any cumulative patch which you can install without install all individual patches…

From sccm perspective it will deliver the instruction and content to wua and then on it’s WUA responsibility to install all those patches
