Question

Hi All,

What’s the difference between Dell Command | Update and Dell Command | Update Windows Universal? Should I choose one over the other?

Zorek Gh, I just mean I’ve got half my fleet on an older Command Update version and others on a newer Universal. I would rather it be all on one. I use dcu-cli, too, for remote scans, so I want to make sure that it works as it should.

Universal package for all flavours of Windows 10 and 11.
For enterprise management, I prefer to use the Dell command | Update

Zorek Gh, I’ve deployed both to clients in the past, I’m just trying to consolidate and stick to one. Dell doesn’t do well defining the two. I read somewhere that Microsoft was doing away with UWP, but I don’t see any validation. I have a few 11 devices, but I’m okay with preparing ahead.

Josh Leininger, you can’t have both deployed on the same machine. And if you have either installed the other, won’t uninstall the previous version and install the new one, and there are restarts involved for clean install/uninstall.
Agree with you that Dell hasn’t done the best job of explaining both versions.
