Intune feedback for Software update management

Question

Hello Experts,

 

We were running on SCCM with 3000 workstations and now we have EMS E3 Licenses  and planning to move on the standalone Microsoft Intune.

 

Primary goal for now is to manage windows software update including 3rd party update and software and hardware inventory report of all the workstations and later next year expand to windows autopilot image and software deployments using Intune.

 

Could you please share your inputs if Intune is good the software update ?

Also wanted to know if there any key points to be considered and if there any cons ?  Does Microsoft additional charge for the software update monthly basis ?
